Buckeye Beemer Minutes for August 2019
Attending: Jamie Picou (President), Henning Carlsen (Treasurer), Dave Burroughs (Acting Secretary), Ed Caughell, Steve Wolfe and Al Holtsberry.
Jamie called the meeting to order at 8:00.
The Minutes from the previous, previous month (June) were read. The July Minutes were then read. Jamie motioned for the approval of both months -2nd by Henning- and both were approved with no corrections.
Treasurer's Report: The club still has $$$$$$$, for the actual number contact Henning.
Membership Report: Steve Wolfe (Membership) reported "no change".
Old Business: Quint's Court-side Restaurant (AKA The Hog Trough -Al's euphemism) -this one on July 29th- was enjoyed immensely. All appetites sated, all faces stuffed and the ride there was fun too.
The big story this last month was Jamie's deer incident on the way to Wyoming. Yes, you will recall a hateful ol' buck had a problem with Jamie's passing on his motorcycle -I think these animals are out to get bikes. As Jamie explained it, he was just riding along and this big buck, complete with antlers, leaped up and slammed into him from the side knocking him from his bike. The bike crashed from at high speed and Jamie bailed and went sliding. He stopped about 40 yards later, bike totaled... Jamie was unhurt except for a couple of bruised ribs.. a miracle!?!
New Business:
This month, happily, I can report that Jamie is back to normal(normal for Jamie that is) and feeling all healed up. That is good news.

AIMEEXPO(sort of like the IX Show) will be showing in downtown Columbus, September 28th - 29th for more information see MOTOSHOWTICKETS.COM.

Al proposed yet another Hot Dog Ride. Any suggestions?

Treasurer's Report: The club still has $$$$$$$, for the actual number contact Henning.
Membership Report: No report as Steve Wolfe (Membership) was not present.

The King Avenue Restaurant is closing after Dec. 31 2018, so we need a new meeting location unless it’s taken over by new management. Discussion was held, including a potential change in meeting days. Dave motioned, seconded by Ed, to have the February 20th meeting at the Flying J at 8pm with dinner at 7pm. Motion carried. Suggestions for other locations would be appreciated - submit by banquet time if possible.

Motohio is having a New Year’s Day ride - coffee at 9am and side stands up at 11am.
Reminder # 2: Send your (separate) membership and banquet reservation checks to Henning, and PLEASE include mileage, rides, events, and fun stories from your riding season. (We may change the awards to “shortest”, “fewest”, or “least”!!)

General Meeting Minutes for November 2018
Attending the September meeting were; Dave Burroughs, Michelle Matheron, Henning Carlson, Jamie Picou and Winston Campbell. Small attendance. I think Thanksgiving might have had an influence. It was great to see Henning at the meeting and walking upright, back surgery recovery is slow.
The meeting was called to order at 7:58 P.M. by President Jamie.
The meeting minutes from October were read by President Jamie. Dave made the motion to accept and the motion carried.
The treasurer report:
No change.
Membership:
Assumed no changes since last month's in the absence of Steve, our Membership Chair.
Old Business:
It is official. The club banquet will be February 2, 2019 again at Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in German Village. Gather at 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. We have the complete upper floor reserved for our use. The cost will be $20.00 per person with any difference (excluding cash bar) covered by your club. Reservations are needed by Jan. 20th. The reservation forms can be found on The Buckeye Beemer website (see the link below) and should be mailed to Henning Carlsen, 5405 Infinity Court, Grove City, Oh. 43123.
New Business:
We need 4 volunteers to make vendor contacts to attend the banquet. Vendors are:
.. Mathias BMW, Motohio,
.. Iron Pony,
.. Ride 1 Powersports.
We need to know who the volunteers are by the December meeting.
Even though the banquet has been moved to February there still will be no meeting for January, we will decide on whether we will meet in February at the December meeting.
Dave posed the question "since we are now having a very small General Meeting attendence (5 or 6 is normal) should we forget about getting our special back room reserved ahead for the entire year? The restaurant could then use it for much larger groups ($$$$$ for them). The decision was... “Our” usual room is the club's preferred meeting location if available, but we will be willing to sit out in the main dining area if King Ave. 5 has a large group wanting “our” room.
Prez Jamie is requesting that everyone coming to the December meeting bring some motorcycle related item (farkle?) new or used, 'nice stuff' like a near new Shoei helmet, but not a quart of used oil or something like that. Seriously though, if you have some item laying around unused, gift wrap it and we will have a fun sort of Christmas exchange at the meeting
I announced that effective at the end of December I will be stepping down as secretary of the Buckeye Beemers. It truly has been an honor serving in that roll for these three years but it is time for someone else to step in, volunteer to be nominated to take over that function. For that matter, all club offices are open for nominations if someone would like to take a post with the club, but I am the only one stepping down at this time.
At 8:25 I made a motion to adjourn, meeting adjourned.

Attending the August Meeting were; Al Holtsberry, Cliff Davis, Steve Wolfe, Ed Caughell, Henning Carlsen, Dave Burroughs, and yours truly, Winston Campbell. The meeting was called to order at 8:14 P.M. by your secretary in the absence of President Jamie.
The meeting minutes from July were read and two corrections were noted. I stated that Henning was at the RA rally when in fact he and Brenda were in Denmark. Missed that by a mile! Also stated attending the Hog Trough run were 7 bikes and 5 riders. Hmm! actually it was 5 bikes and 7 riders. That makes more sense. Al made the motion to accept with noted corrections and Cliff second.
Treasurer's Report:
Henning reported the club balance with an outstanding check for the rider’s lunch at the Hog Trough yet to clear.
Membership:
No changes since last month.
Old business:
Cliff stated that the ride to Hillbilly Hotdogs was one of the best rides he ever participated in. The roads were in wonderful condition with a lot of challenging curves. Kudos to Ed Caughell for picking a great route and leading a great ride. It was said that people watching at Hillbilly Hotdogs was also a fun spectator sport. It was also suggested that next year the ride be during a weekday to avoid the crowds at Hillbilly Hotdogs and possibly have a second weekend ride for the poor souls who still have to work for a living.
New business:
The Ride for Rhinos is this Sunday, August 19, leaving the Iron Pony with first bike out at 9:30 AM and last out at 10:15. There is a $20.00 (donation?) and participants receive a tee shirt.
There is a Motorcycle Sport Touring Association event in Marietta but unfortunately I did not catch the date or details. Somebody fill in for me. My apologies.
Wing Ding is in Knoxville, Tennessee the week before Labor Day.
The 2019 BMW RA Rally will be in Woodstock, Virginia on Sept. 5-8 so you can start planning ahead.
At 8:35 Ed made a motion to adjourn, Dave second, meeting adjourned.
