Spring is in the air
We’re off to a great start this year
With the milder weather I see more people riding this year than in years past.
Motohio was part of the Columbus Car show this past weekend for 4 days at the Columbus Convention Center. Lots and lots of people looking at cars and motorcycles.
We are still looking for Corys replacement as a Club Membership Director. We also need a focal point to help keep our website current. If you have any interest in either of these positions please contact me.
Tonight’s meeting will be held at Motohio starting at 7 with free Pizza, pop and beer provided.
Next months meeting will be at the paddock pub in Groveport.
Be sure to look at Larry’s secretary page for all the meeting details as well as Rich’s activities update.
That’s all for now. Tks Mike
Where has time gone?
Well I don’t know. It just seems like yesterday I talked about a Nip in the air.
That was actually several months ago. We were looking forward to racing MC’s on the Ice at Buckeye and Indian lakes. You need cold weather for that to happen and it didn’t happen. Not that I’m complaining as I would rather have a warm winter than a frozen one. Maybe next year.
We did have our Annual Banquet at Schmitts and a good time was had by all. John Lafollette entertained us. We had some great giveaways and I’m sure everyone won a prize.
Our need meeting is tonight at La Matraca restaurant located at 5000 Gender rd. Dinner at 7:00 meeting starts at 8:00.
Cory Samuell has moved out of state and we are now looking for a new membership focal point. If anyone is interested please contact me.
That’s all for now. Tks Mike
Nip in the Air
Do you feel a little nip in the air? I know I do.
It seems the weather is turning and winter is on its way.
There’s still more good riding to be had. Some say now is the best time to ride all year with the fall colors changing.
Our activities VP Rich McCoy has been doing a great job with scheduled rides. Pay attention to what he’s cooking up.
Tonight is our monthly club meeting taking place at the Birch Tavern in Groveport, Ohio. Dinner at 7:00, meeting starts at 8:00. See you there if you can make it.
We are starting to plan our annual banquet. More info on that later.
That’s all for now. Tks Mike
Dog Days of Summer
Dog Days of Summer are here with temps rising.
It seems everyone is taking some time off work and taking some vacation.
Yours truly went to Germany on a Business/Vacation and had a great time. I will post more on this later.
Lots of activities happening like Vintage Days and Demo Events at both BMW Motorcycles of Greater Cincinnati and Motohio(8-26 and 27).
The club is meeting tonight at 7:00 in Lithopolis (El Pedgregal Mex Restaurant at 44 E Columbus St). See you tonight if you can make it.
That’s all for now.
Safe travels
Sunny Days
Sunny Days and fun times are finally here.
I’ll keep it short this time.
Reference Larrys sect page for monthly meeting summary

It’s not too late. Join us for our monthly club meeting tonight at Barrel Pizza and grill 7482 State Rt 161, Plain City Ohio 43064. Food at 7, meeting starts at 8:00.
Thanks Mike
Spring is in the Air
Spring is coming I promise. Before we know it we’ll be complaining about how hot it is:)
Actually the sun is shining and the birds are chirping as I write this message and can’t wait for some good riding weather. I know some of us rode during the winter months. Yours truly got out on the ice 6 times at Buckeye lake and Indian lake for some riding/racing. I’m actually looking forward to next year already. You are welcome to take my bike around a few laps to get a dose of how much fun it is.
I’m happy to say we’ve found our activities board member. Rich McCoy stepped up to the plate and has agreed to be our focal point. Welcome Rich to our team. During the next meeting (4-19-22) we’ll all gather some ideas on activities we would like to participate in for Rich to focus on. Stay tuned and reference our calendar for activities and updates.
Speaking of the Calendar, we just published our Wed dinner ride schedule for the year and it will be loaded to the Buckeye beemer calendar asap. Its already on Motohio’s calendar. Our first dinner ride will be this Wed 4-13-22. We’ll leave Motohio at 6:15 and head to Rusty’s Wharf, 60 Oak Meadow Dr Pataskala 43062 740-927-2799.
Reference Larry’s (Secretary) monthly meeting minutes for addition details.
Thats all for now. Safe travels.
Thanks Mike
Flurry of Activity
Wow, lots of administrative things happening at the buckeye beemers club.
New Club Website, renewal of corp registration, new sunday morning breakfast location, etc, etc, etc.
See full list of the happenings on the Secretary's Notes page.
We also had a number of Buckeye Beemers participate in the following bike events this month:
* Nov 7th at the Honda Hills Motocross track. Its under new ownership and they plan to bring it back to the glory days. We had a great time running on the old track. The weather was prefect
* Nov 14th at the peace pipe enduro in greenville OH. We woke up to snowy conditions. I'm sure I rode in worse conditions, I just can't remember when lol. I actually ran out of gas before the halfway gas stop and finished my day with my bike in the back of an open trailer heading back to the pits. I'm sure some had more fun than me.
* Nov 28th at the Adventure ride challenge sponsored by BMW Motorcycles of Greater Cincinnati and Motohio European Motorbikes. This event was held at Butler Tech complex about 8 miles south of downtown Middletown. It was a cold and windy start but the sun came out and warmed up nicely. We had about 20 people show up for this first event. We had a 1/4 mile long course full of big bike obstacles including tight sections, rocks, gravel, grass, mud, etc. We had practice and then the fun started with a timed event to see who could get through the section the fastest. Kirk Allen set the fastest lap time of 3 mins 4 seconds. We also had food, DJ, prizes etc. Check out the drone footage on our Buckeye Beemers , Motohio's or BMW Motorcycle of Greater Cincinnati's face book pages.
We won't have a Dec meeting based on the holidays.
See you next year.
Thanks Mike
Somber Thoughts
Hello everyone.
As I sit in my office looking out my window, I can't help but think this years riding season is nearing the end. I'm an optimistic guy and think there will be many more riding days left before the temp really drops and the snow flies. Call me a nut but that's when I start thinking about Ice Racing on Buckeye Lake. I know several club members have and will participate in these winter events. More to follow about this when it gets colder.
I'm happy to report we signed up two new members. Elizabeth Allen and Matt Carroll have joined us. Both are avid motorcyclists and currently racing GNCC off road events among other events. Please welcome them to our club.
I previously indicated we will be changing locations for our Monthly Club Meetings. Denny's in Delaware has been great to host our club meetings for the past several years, but I want to shake it up and have these meetings near where all club members live. For a change of pace, our club meeting last night was held at Planks Café on Parsons. Several members indicated it was a great facility with good food and service with ample off street parking. Our next meeting on Nov 17th will be held at the Paddock Pub in the Groveport Golf Course, located at 1005 Richardson Rd Groveport, Ohio phone # 614-610-9688. Do you have a suggested meeting place in your area for consideration? If so let me know.
Finally its been brought to my attention that two of our long time members have passed away.
Please reference the following links for Jack Goldberg and Richard Giovanetti.

That's all for now. Save travels.
Thanks Mike
Fun Times
Good day everyone.
I don't have the time to tell you how much fun I had last weekend at the 8th annual Wailin Wayne weekend. Let me summarize and say it was a blast.
Not only did we have different riding options from dirt to gravel to paved roads and combinations of all this but we also had:
- Breakfast, dinner, beer, entertainment and giveaways
- But we also had train rides, horseback ridding, canoeing, shopping etc
Hopefully you'll find time to participate in next years event.
Speaking of events Motohio will be hosting the BMW R18 demo event tomorrow 9-18-21. Actually our sister dealership (BMW Motorcycles of Greater Cincinnati) will be sponsoring the event at their location also. Free Food truck, entertainment, giveaways, discounts and demo rides on the R18's are all planned.
That’s all for now. Tks Mike
Focus Items
Hello everyone. Just a little update on our focus item from when I started a couple months ago.
From a driving memberships perspective, we are off and running. I just didn't want to sign up anybody and everybody. We have standards lol. We did set up a tent at the Motohio/BMW heritage event and a membership display at the dealership. I'm happy to say that in addition to my wife and I we have 3 more new members.
From a enhancing the clubs support department perspective, We did add two new focal points. Larry Laskorski will be our Secretary and Cory Samuell will be our Membership Board Member. We are currently looking for high energy, motorcycle rider that would like to be our Activities Board Member. If you know of someone please send them my way.
I've started posting for the club on facebook. Check us out at Buckeye Beemers Columbus.
We will be changing our monthly meeting locations if possible. Stay tuned for locations when they become available.
From a sponsored events standpoint. We are working on it. I promise we'll have them. Until then you're invited to the events listed in the Secretary Notes section of this blog. These should be fun events to attend.
That's all for now. I'll keep you updated as time goes on.
Thanks
Mike
Welcome Message
It all begins with an idea.
Hello everyone. As the new elected Buckeye Beemer’s President, I would like to thank you for this vote of confidence.
Let me start by telling you a little about myself:
I’ll be married to my wife Ann for 45 years next month so you know I can take direction 😊.
We have 3 successful grown children Gretchen, Kirk and Elizabeth.
I retired from IBM after 32.5 years (May 2, 2009).
I purchased Motohio European Motorbikes in Columbus, July 16, 2008. We sell and service new BMW’s Ducati’s and Triumph’s. You will find Ann, Elizabeth and myself at Motohio most days.
I saw the need to open a 2nd BMW Dealership (BMW Exclusive Standalone) in Southwest Ohio and BMW Motorcycles of Greater Cincinnati will celebrate our 2nd year anniversary June 29, 2021. Kirk is my General Manager and is running this Dealership.
My hobbies consist of all aspects of Motorcycling including racing (Cross Country, Motocross, Flat track, drag racing, etc), old motorcycle and car restoration and running when possible. I, for some reason like to fix and make things better. I’m a lifetime member of the AMA and member of the Greater Cincinnati BMW Motorcycle club.
I’ve been a member of the Buckeye Beemer’s club previously and went to a couple outings like Whispering Pines as an example. For the last 13 years, I think I’ve always attended the year end outing and donated prizes for the drawings. Based on my work schedule and other factors, I’ve not been able to be an active member of the club. Times have changed and feel I have more time now to contribute.
My current focus items for the Club will be:
- Driving memberships (currently 23)
- Enhancing the Clubs Support Department
- Sponsored Events
Details and updates on these items will be posted.
Safe travels.
Mike

March Message
Hello All
Boy it has been a long cold winter, good for us people that like winter sports though. How many of you have snowmobiles? Now there's some winter riding. I still have a little ice in the drive way and a pile of snow eight feet high. Wonder how long it will take to melt? With temps going up lately it makes me start wanting to get the bikes out. Been couped up to long and getting antsy to get out and do some things I need to get done. Also we are working on the club contest as there has been some discussion on a couple of things,So stay tuned. The poker run/fun run is our first club event and I am looking forward to it. I have a couple of large projects for this summer so my riding time might be challenged a little. I think I will put a better effort into riding daily, like to work and etc, as trips and long rides might be out for this summer I think.
That's all for now
Ride warm and safe
HOLIDAY MESSAGE
Happy Holidays to All!
Well it is December and finally cold. Didn't we have a great fall season for riding? I think I rode more in November this year than I can remember. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving, we did. Haven't been on the bike much lately but might ride one more time before my insurance runs out. I will get it all detailed for next spring while the snow is on the ground.
Club News:
We are looking for one more person for the board. That would get us up to five where we should be. There are three spots up for election this year so if you want to keep this club going we need some people to step up.
Its not a hard job and it only takes one night a month to be on the board; also we could use a couple of people to help out with a few club functions.
As in the past, our banquet will be at Salvi's so send in your reservation, http://bmwform1.blogspot.com/ . Also please renew your membership before the first of the year, http://bmaapform.blogspot.com/ . Both forms should be in the Newsletter, or on the web. You do not want to miss out on next years club events do you? Some new things might happen.
Best Wishes for the season to all!
See you all soon!
Jaime
