General Monthly Meeting Minutes for November 21, 2023

Meeting Location –

The Paddock Pub, 1005 Richardson Rd., Groveport, OH, 43125. 

Members in Attendance – (8)

Attending the November meeting were Mike Allen (President), Larry Laskorski (Secretary), Henning Carlsen (Treasurer), Rich McCoy (Activities), Joshus Casto (Membership), Al Holtsberry, Steve Wolfe, and Peter Gerber. 

Call to Order –

Mike Allen called the meeting to order at 8:09 P.M. 

Secretary’s report –

Larry Laskorski read the minutes of the meeting held on October 17, 2023.  Henning Carlsen moved to accept the minutes, as written, and that they be entered into the organization’s records.  Rich McCoy seconded the motion.  All members in attendance voted in favor, with no objections, and the motion was approved.  

Treasurer's report –

Henning Carlsen provided a short financial report that indicated the treasury balance and that the club is solvent.  He noted that the club has paid the deposit of $225.00 for the club’s annual banquet at Schmidt’s. 

Larry Laskorski moved to accept the Treasurer’s Report, as provided, and that it be entered into the organization’s records.  Mike Allen seconded the motion.  All members in attendance voted in favor, with no objections, and the motion was approved.  Should any members not attending this meeting need information on the current financial position of the club, please reach out to Henning.. 

Membership report – 

Joshua reported that the club has 49 members and that there are no other major changes or updates as we are entering the off-season for riding.  He stated that he will be sending out an email to the membership to solicit ideas and suggestions for next year’s club T-shirt. 

Larry Laskorski moved to accept the Membership Report and that they be entered into the organization’s records.  Mike Allen seconded the motion.  All members in attendance voted in favor, with no objections, and the motion was approved.  

Activities Report –

Rich McCoy reported that he is very involved in the planning process for the club banquet.

• The date of the banquet is Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

• The attendance fee is $25.00 per person.

• As previously mentioned in the Treasurer’s report, the deposit for the large room at Schmidt’s has been made.

• Rich has contacted John LaFollette to confirm that he will be providing the musical entertainment for the evening.

• Rich is seeking SWAG contributions for door prizes.

• Awards will be given for several activities/accomplishments:

  • Covered Bridge Contest

  • Miles ridden.

  • International miles ridden.

  • Longest trip – solo.

  • Longest trip – two up.

  • Most States ridden.

  • Most Rallies attended. 

Rich requested members to submit photos of rides to him to be posted on the website. 

Rich will be sending out a survey to the membership to gauge interest for a potential trip to Fayetteville, WV (New River Gorge area) in 2024. 

Mike Allen moved to accept  the Activities Report,  as presented, and that it be entered into the organization’s records.  Al Holtsberry seconded the motion.  All members in attendance voted in favor, with no objections, and the motion was approved.  

Old business - None 

New business – None. 

Questions raised – Mike Allen inquired of Henning Carlsen as to when the club would need to make its annual charitable contribution.  Henning responded that there is no annual deadline to contribute.  Mike then stated that we would address this topic at the next regular club meeting. 

Next Meeting –

Just a reminder that there will be no December meeting.  The next meeting will occur on the date of the annual banquet. 

The February meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.  Location:  Motohio European Motorbikes, 5636 Scarborough Blvd, Columbus, OH, 43232.  Mike Allen will provide food and refreshments. 

Adjournment –

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mike Allen at 8:32PM which was seconded by Josua Casto.  All members in attendance voted in favor, with no objections, and the motion was approved.  The meeting was then adjourned.
